Short answer. Rakeback is a rebate of part of the casino's theoretical profit on your bets, paid back as cash with no wagering requirement. At casinos it is defined as a percentage of the house edge, not of your stake: rakeback = wager × house edge × rate. Stake pays 3.5% of the house edge, so 1 BTC wagered on a 2% edge game returns 0.0007 BTC. Shuffle and Rollbit pay 5%, Duelbits 5% rising to 12.5%, Cloudbet 5% to 10% (10% during its 30-day welcome package). Roobet pays rakeback through a level system but does not publish the rate. Two things stand out. First, rakeback is tiny relative to turnover: 0.1% to 0.5% of what you bet. Second, it is certain. There is no multiplier, no max bet, no expiry on the money once claimed (Rollbit's calendar entries expire after 24 hours if not claimed; Roobet's vault releases expire after 24 hours too).
Rakeback versus a deposit bonus
Take $1,000 of planned turnover on a 96% slot.
- Rakeback at 5% of the house edge: $1,000 × 4% × 5% = $2 back, no conditions.
- A 100% deposit bonus of $100 at 40× bonus-only: you must turn over $4,000, four times your plan, with an expected loss of $160 against $100 of bonus, under a max-bet cap and a deadline.
The bonus is worth more in absolute terms only if you were already going to wager $4,000 and the RTP exceeds 97.5%. The rakeback is worth less but never costs anything. Where rakeback is switched off
Roobet's policy (5.5): "while you have a wagering requirement from a deposit bonus, you will not receive any form of Rakeback." Cloudbet (9.7): while a bonus is active, play does not count toward the loyalty club and bonus bets earn no loyalty rewards. Duelbits excludes games "deemed susceptible to abuse" from the rakeback calculation. Stake excludes voided and cashed-out sports bets. If you take a deposit bonus at a rakeback casino, assume rakeback pauses until it is cleared.
